Your operation needs a Competent Person. You don't need a full-time salary.

All corporate engagements are fixed-scope deliverables signed by a SACNASP-registered Competent Person (Pr Nat Sci 005451 — verify with SACNASP on www.sacnasp.org.za). Pricing is always by written quotation, scoped to your specific operation — not taken from a price list.

Why independence matters for CP sign-off:

A Competent Person who works for your company cannot be independent of your resource estimates. SAMREC requires independence for public reporting. MMI has no equity stake, no employment relationship, and no commercial interest in the outcome of any resource estimate it reviews.

Engagement types

Five ways we work with your operation.

Service 01

  • Team capability gap review
  • Role-by-role career assessment
  • Practical training roadmap
  • Action plan with priorities

Best for: Junior teams · Technical departments · Mine planning teams

  • Data integrity and evidence gap review
  • QA/QC breakpoint identification
  • Reporting readiness assessment
  • Remediation recommendations

Best for: Reporting teams · MRM functions · Pre-audit preparation

  • Evidence package review and gap identification
  • Governance workflow design
  • Close-out discipline support
  • Competent Person readiness checklist

Best for: Reporting teams · Competent Persons · Pre-statement preparation

Service 04

  • Scoped advisory engagement
  • Reporting cycle governance support
  • Risk identification and mitigation
  • Team guidance and checkpoint reviews

Best for: Mining companies · Technical teams under reporting pressure

Service 05

Integrated Mine Planning

A structured review of your mine planning function — from Short Interval Control through to Life of Mine Planning. MMI assesses planning efficiency, integration between planning horizons, and the governance discipline needed to ensure planning outputs are reliable, consistent, and decision-ready.

  • Short Interval Control (SIC) review and effectiveness assessment
  • Medium-term and annual plan integration review
  • Life of Mine planning alignment and gap identification
  • Mine planning workflow and governance assessment
  • Scheduling tools and data integrity review
  • Recommendations and action plan for planning efficiency improvement
Looking for ongoing CP coverage?
A project engagement often reveals the need for a retainer.
Operations that complete a governance engagement frequently move to an MRM Retainer for continuous CP oversight.

What would a hiring panel see in your CV right now?

Not what you hope they see. What they actually see.

Three out of four mining CVs I review say “Responsible for” where they should say “Delivered.” The gap between listing duties and proving outcomes is where interviews are lost. I find the gap. You close it.

Resource estimation STRENGTH Explicit, multi-instance across three operations. Lead this in every application.
Grade control & reconciliation DEMONSTRATED Present but generic. Undersold — no tonnages, no variance figures. Fixable this week.
QA/QC oversight PARTIAL Implied only. This is a writing problem, not an absence — the experience is there.
CP sign-off exposure GAP Genuinely absent. Disclose honestly — recommended interview response supplied in Section 7.

Quick CV Readiness Check

Answer 5 quick questions about your CV and current role. This is a lightweight indicator only — not the full strict audit — but it will show you the single biggest thing worth fixing right now.

1. Do your CV bullet points include real numbers — like percentages, rand values, or team sizes?
Yes, in most of them
In some of them
Only 1–2 in total
No, it's mostly just job duties
2. Is your CV written for one specific type of role, or does it try to cover several different career directions?
It's focused on one specific role
It covers 2 related directions
It's quite general / "open to anything"
3. Are the software and technical skills on your CV up to date with what you actually use day to day?
Yes, fully up to date
Mostly, but a few are outdated
Not sure, haven't checked in a while
4. In an interview, could you confidently explain how you achieved every result you've listed?
Yes, confidently for all of them
For most of them
A few would be a stretch to explain
5. What's your current career level?
Graduate / Junior (0–3 yrs)
Mid-Level (4–8 yrs)
Senior (9–15 yrs)
Technical Services Manager (TSM) / MRM Manager / Director (12+ yrs)

⚠ About this score

This is a 5-question self-assessment based on your own answers — it does not read your actual CV and is not a professional audit. Your score reflects how you rated your own CV, not an independent check of it. For a real diagnostic that actually reads your CV text, try the Lite CV Scan (Tier 2) below, or get the full Career Positioning Audit for a human-reviewed, evidence-based assessment.

Tier 2 · Self-Serve · Instant

Lite CV Scan

Unlike the 60-second check above, this actually reads your CV. Select your discipline and level, paste your CV text below, and our engine scans it against the real MMI competency framework for your role — checking for the specific evidence, terminology, and outcome patterns a strict human auditor would look for. ⚠ Important — please read

This is an automated keyword scan, not a professional audit. It checks whether certain words and patterns appear in the text you pasted — it cannot read context, cannot judge whether your evidence is genuinely strong, and cannot tell a real achievement from an exaggerated one. A perfect 100/100 here does not mean your CV is perfect, and a low score does not necessarily mean your experience is weak — it may simply mean it isn't written down using the specific terminology this scan looks for.

The full MMI Career Positioning Audit is reviewed by a human Competent Person with 25 years in Mineral Resource Management, who reads your actual evidence and rates every competency as Strength, Demonstrated, Partial, or Gap — not just "word present" or "word absent." That is the only way to know, with confidence, where you genuinely stand.

The only service of its kind in Southern Africa. The big consultancies serve mining companies on projects. None of them will sit down with you as an individual, audit your CV against the real framework for your discipline, and tell you where you stand. That's what I do.

Covering every discipline: Geology, Mine Planning, Mining Engineering, Survey, Rock Engineering, Ventilation, Occupational Hygiene, Metallurgy / Mineral Processing, Technical Services Manager (TSM), and MRM Manager. Metallurgy / Mineral Processing Career Positioning Audits are co-delivered with Mashudu Jerminah Mbhele, ECSA Pr Tech Eng.

What actually changes

One line from a real audit. Before and after.

Before

“Responsible for resource estimation and geological modelling.”

Rating: Partial — duty listed, no outcome named

After

“Built and maintained the Mineral Resource model for [deposit] (14.2Mt at 3.8g/t, Indicated + Inferred) using Datamine and Snowden Supervisor. Delivered the Annual Resource Update report under SAMREC, signed off by the CP.”

Rating: Strength — deposit, tonnage, method, software, code, and sign-off all named

Redacted from an actual audit. Details changed to protect the client.

What clients say

From professionals who have been through the process.

The Career Positioning Audit gave me language I did not have before. I knew I was competent — after MMI, I could prove it.

Senior Geologist · Platinum sector · Limpopo

I expected to be told I was strong. I was told where I was actually weak — with a clear plan to fix it. That honesty was worth far more than validation.

MRM Manager · Gold sector · Free State

Scoping the retainer took 30 minutes. Having a CP on call has removed a risk we were carrying silently.

Technical Director · Junior miner · Northern Cape

Testimonials shown with permission. Names and companies withheld by request.

Before you decide

Common questions.

“I’ve never heard of this company.”

Fair. I launched MMI in 2026. What I brought with me: resource models built at De Beers, Kalagadi, and Glencore. The same person reads your CV. Registration number Pr Nat Sci 005451 — verify it yourself.

“Why would I pay R3,000+ when a CV writer charges half that?”

A CV writer makes your document look professional. They can’t tell you whether your resource estimation line would survive a panel of three people who’ve done your job. If you need formatting, hire a CV writer. If you need proof — different service.

“What if I pay and the audit tells me I’m weak?”

It might. That’s the point. Knowing which three things are costing you interviews is worth more than years of wondering. Every gap comes with a plan to close it and a prepared response for interviews. The people who benefit most are usually the ones most nervous about what it might say.

“Can’t I just do this myself?”

You can try. Most people either overrate themselves (you know what you meant to write) or underrate themselves (you can’t see your own strengths). You wouldn’t sign off your own resource statement. Same principle.

“I’m not sure what I actually get for the money.”

Four things. A scored summary. A competency-by-competency breakdown with every rating traced to your CV. An action plan — what to fix this week, this month. And a gap disclosure with prepared interview responses. Plus a rewritten CV at every level. You see a sample before you pay.

“Is my information safe?”

I never contact your employer. Your CV is reviewed only for your audit and never shared. No recruitment partnerships, no data selling. MMI is 100% independent.

“Is this right for me?”

Probably not if you just need formatting (hire a CV writer), want validation (I don’t sell that), work outside mining (my benchmarks are mining-specific), or need results tomorrow (the audit takes 5–7 days — the free check is instant).

The role you want next is already posted somewhere.
Is your CV ready for it?

Common questions
How is this different from a CV builder?+
A CV builder reformats your CV for any job. CV-to-Advert Alignment reads the specific advert you're applying for, compares your evidence requirement-by-requirement, and tells you honestly where you don't fit — and what to say about it at interview. It also understands the SA mining sector: SAMREC, CP requirements, MRM evidence standards.
Do you hide the gaps?+
No. I never invent experience or generate numbers you can't back up. If a requirement exists in the advert and the evidence doesn't exist in your CV, we say so — and give you a prepared, honest way to address it at interview. The test we apply to every claim on your CV: could you explain it in 90 seconds if a panel asked? If not, it doesn't go on the page. A hidden gap discovered at interview is far more damaging than one you walked in prepared for.
What if I'm applying to several roles?+
Each advert gets its own alignment — different roles have different requirements. Additional adverts submitted within 30 days: R149 each, not R950.
How long does it take?+
3–5 business days from payment confirmation and receipt of both documents. Urgent turnaround (48 hours) available — contact us before submitting to confirm availability.

Coming from a Career Positioning Audit? This is the natural next step — from knowing where you stand to deciding where you're going.

Who this is for

This programme is for you if any of these are true

You have 5–20 years of work experience but feel stuck or unfulfilled.
You're thinking about a career change but don't know where to start.
Your values and your job are no longer aligned.
You've been passed over for opportunities and don't understand why.
You want to do work that energises you — not drains you.
You're re-entering the workforce after a break and need a clear plan.
How the programme works

Four stages. One direction.

01

Assess

Certified professional career and competency assessment. Real data on your strengths, gaps, and natural work style — not a quiz.

02

Align

Values clarification. Identity. What you actually want vs what you've been told you should want. What's been keeping you stuck.

03

Strategise

Career direction. CV. LinkedIn. Personal brand. A roadmap built around who you are — not just what you've done.

04

Move

Coaching support through execution. We don't hand you a document and disappear — we stay with you through implementation.

Interim MRM Governance Support

Challenge
A mining company needed structured MRM governance support during a high-pressure reporting period while a permanent role was being filled.
Approach
MMI provided scoped interim advisory support, including weekly governance checkpoints, risk identification, and team guidance through the reporting cycle.
Outcome
The team delivered on time with improved governance discipline. The engagement also identified priority capability gaps for the incoming permanent appointment.

Personal Career Positioning Audit · Senior Geologist

3 gaps. 1 promotion. 60 days.

Challenge
A Senior Geologist had been overlooked for an MRM Manager role twice. Their CV read as competent but generic — nothing in it evidenced SAMREC-standard experience at the level the role required.
Approach
The Career Positioning Audit identified three specific evidence gaps: unquantified resource estimation work, no documented QA/QC oversight, and no evidence of CP-level sign-off exposure. Each was mapped to a concrete fix.
Outcome
With the gaps closed and the CV rebuilt around real evidence, the candidate applied for a similar role 60 days later and was promoted into it.

Our engagement model

Every engagement starts with one conversation.

Whether you're an individual professional requesting a Career Positioning Audit or a mining operation scoping a governance retainer, the process is the same: one call, a clear scope, a written proposal, then we get to work.

A structured engagement model from discovery to close-out

Every MMI engagement follows a consistent five-stage process. This gives clients confidence that the work is structured, measurable, and aligned to their actual needs.

01
Stage One

Discovery

We take time to understand your situation before proposing anything. This means understanding the client's issue, team structure, reporting pressure, governance gaps, and timeline constraints. Discovery may be a call, a briefing document, or a short site review.

02
Stage Two

Scope & Success Criteria

We agree clearly on what will be reviewed, what will be delivered, and how success is measured. A written scope is shared before work begins. This ensures there are no surprises on either side — and that the engagement stays focused on what actually matters.

03
Stage Three

Execution

Depending on the engagement, this may include data reviews, team assessments, workflow audits, workshops, governance checkpoint reviews, or advisory sessions. Work is structured and progressed against the agreed scope with regular updates.

04
Stage Four

Handover

Findings and recommendations are packaged clearly. Deliverables may include written reports, action plans, gap analyses, readiness checklists, or workflow templates. The handover is designed to give your team something practical they can use immediately.

05
Stage Five

Follow-up

Structured close-out support is available after handover. This may include supporting implementation of recommendations, preparing for the next reporting cycle, or providing checkpoint reviews as your team applies the action plan.

About MMI

25 years in the mines. Now fully independent.

I spent 25 years in mining watching two things that shouldn't happen: talented professionals underselling themselves on paper, and operations carrying governance risk they didn't need to carry. MMI fixes both.

Who we are

Our purpose: practical support that creates real change

The company used to manage your career. Now you have to. That's true for individuals and it's true for operations. MMI was built on a simple premise — that many mining teams carry significant MRM responsibility without the governance support, structured processes, or capability they need to deliver consistently.

We provide structured, evidence-based consulting that helps technical teams identify gaps, improve workflows, and prepare for reporting or operational decision points — without overhauling everything at once.

Every engagement is scoped to fit the client's actual situation. There is no standard package — only practical work aligned to what your team needs to achieve.

🔎

I read the evidence, not the intention

If your CV says 'resource estimation' but doesn't name the deposit, the tonnage, or the method — I flag it. What you meant to write doesn't matter. What the page actually says is what a panel reads.

⚙️

Advice you can act on this week

Every action plan has dates and specifics. 'Improve your CV' is not an action. 'Add the tonnage, classification, and software to your resource estimation bullet by Friday' is.

📐

You know exactly what you're paying for

No scope creep, no surprise invoices, no vague 'ongoing advisory.' You get a written scope before you pay, and the deliverables are listed by name.

🌍

Built by a mining professional, for mining professionals

This isn't a generic HR consultancy that added 'mining' to the website. The person reading your CV has spent 25 years doing the work you're describing. That's why the assessment is accurate.

"My work is grounded in 25 years of practical mining experience — from geological modelling and grade control to executive-level technical services leadership. I understand what teams are dealing with at reporting time because I have been there."

Charity Mampa is a registered Professional Natural Scientist (Pr Nat Sci 005451) and Competent Person under SAMREC codes, with over 25 years of geology expertise and 12 years in Mineral Resource Management (MRM) governance across platinum, chrome, manganese, and diamonds.

She has held senior technical leadership roles at De Beers, Petra Diamonds, Kalagadi Manganese, Glencore Alloys, Modikwa Platinum, and Marula Platinum — overseeing technical services functions including geology, rock engineering, mine planning, ventilation, survey, and mine technical systems. Her MRM governance experience spans the full value chain: from resource estimation and SAMREC Table 1 compliance through to CP sign-off and executive reporting.

Through MMI, Charity leads the Personal MRM/TSM Career Positioning Audit service across all validated disciplines — and heads the Metallurgy / Mineral Processing stream in collaboration with co-auditor Mashudu Jerminah Mbhele (ECSA Pr Tech Eng). The Metallurgy framework is the latest addition to MMI's validated discipline suite, bringing multi-commodity metallurgical expertise across diamonds, platinum, and heavy minerals to the MMI Career Positioning Audit offering.

MMI's approach applies the same evidentiary standard to career assessment that Charity applies to SAMREC reporting — rigorous, evidence-based, and honest about what the data actually shows.

"I bring the technical rigour of 20+ years in metallurgical engineering and the human insight of a transformation coach — because in my experience, the biggest career gaps are rarely technical. They are in how professionals see themselves and tell their story."

Mashudu Jerminah Mbhele is a qualified Metallurgical Engineer (ECSA Pr Tech Eng) with over 20 years of active technical experience across diamonds, platinum, and heavy minerals — including De Beers Finsch and Voorspoed, Anglo Platinum, and Richards Bay Minerals. Her hands-on experience spans process plant operations, Slag Plant and Mineral Separation Plant work, commissioning, laboratory management, and Six Sigma process improvement.

As MMI's Named Contributor and Co-Auditor for the Metallurgy / Mineral Processing stream, Jerminah brings deep commodity-specific knowledge to the Career Positioning Audit of metallurgical professionals — assessing evidence against the MMI Metallurgy framework at the same evidentiary standard applied across all validated MMI disciplines. She co-authors audit deliverables and co-signs outputs on metallurgy engagements.

Jerminah also leads MMI's Career Coaching offering as a Master Transformation Coach — combining technical credibility with certified coaching methodology to support mid-career mining professionals navigating career realignment and transition.

For mining operations · CP governance on retainer

A Competent Person on call. Without the full-time cost.

You need a SACNASP-registered Competent Person — for SAMREC sign-off, regulatory compliance, and technical governance — but can't justify a full-time CP salary. The MMI Governance Retainer gives you ongoing CP oversight and priority access to a Pr Nat Sci 005451-registered Competent Person, at a fixed fee scoped to your operation's size.

Engagements are structured as a negotiated retainer, with scope and term agreed per contract — not a fixed monthly arrangement applied regardless of what you need.

Why independence matters for CP sign-off:

A Competent Person who works for your company cannot be independent of your resource estimates. SAMREC requires independence for public reporting. MMI has no equity stake, no employment relationship, and no commercial interest in the outcome of any resource estimate it reviews — on retainer or otherwise.

Three tiers — scoped to your operation

Governance coverage that fits where you are.

Pricing is on quotation following a 30-minute scoping call — because an operation with two projects should not pay the same as one with twelve.

Lowest-risk way to start
Foundation · Quarterly oversight

Foundation Retainer

For junior explorers and early-stage operations with basic SAMREC compliance needs
Typically: 1–3 active projects · Pre-feasibility to feasibility · Small or no dedicated MRM team
Pricing on quotation
Based on project count and scope
EFT · terms per contract
  • Quarterly MRM compliance review with written report
  • Priority query access — 72-hour response guarantee
  • Annual SAMREC compliance sign-off
  • Quarterly CP certification letter for regulatory submissions

Many operations start here — not because their needs are small, but because it's a low-commitment way to work with an independent CP before deciding on deeper governance support. If your needs grow, moving to Standard or Comprehensive is straightforward.

Standard · Regular oversight

Standard Retainer

For junior to mid-tier operations with active SAMREC reporting obligations
Typically: 3–8 active projects · Feasibility to production · MRM team of 3–8 professionals
Pricing on quotation
Based on reporting complexity
EFT · terms per contract
  • Regular CP oversight calls with written summary
  • Quarterly MRM compliance review
  • Priority query access — 48-hour response guarantee
  • Bi-annual SAMREC compliance sign-off
  • One ad-hoc technical opinion per quarter (written)
  • Annual MRM governance health check
Comprehensive · Full governance integration

Comprehensive Retainer

For established mid-tier operations requiring full CP governance integration and board-level reporting
Typically: 8+ active projects · Multi-commodity · Board or investor-facing reporting
Pricing on quotation
Based on governance complexity
EFT · terms per contract
  • Regular CP oversight calls (written summaries provided)
  • Regular MRM compliance review with written report
  • Same-day priority access for urgent governance queries
  • Quarterly SAMREC compliance sign-off across all active projects
  • Two ad-hoc technical opinions per quarter
  • Annual independent MRM governance Career Positioning Audit included
  • Quarterly board-ready governance summary report
What determines your scope

Pricing is based on your operation, not a price list.

Factors that determine your scope:

  • 📋   Number of active projects and resource categories
  • 📊   SAMREC reporting frequency and complexity
  • 👥   Size and maturity of your MRM team
  • 🗺️   Geographic spread (single site vs multi-site)
  • 📈   Stage of operations (exploration / feasibility / production)
  • 🏛️   Reporting obligations (internal / board / investor / regulatory)

What you always get, regardless of tier:

  • ✓   SACNASP Pr Nat Sci 005451 — a registered CP on your retainer (verify with SACNASP →)
  • ✓   25 years practitioner MRM experience
  • ✓   Fixed fee, no surprise billing
  • ✓   Priority access — your queries go to the front of the queue
  • ✓   Independence — no conflict of interest with your estimates
  • ✓   Confidentiality — your governance data stays with MMI only

ℹ️ About this result

This is a five-question indicator based on your own answers — it is not a formal assessment. Mining disciplines overlap significantly and many professionals work across more than one. Use this as a starting point for conversation and research, not as a final verdict on your career.

If you want a more grounded view — one that actually maps your existing competencies and qualification against your chosen discipline's competency framework — the Student Career Positioning Audit does that. It produces a CV you can use for your first applications as part of the same service.

Student Career Positioning Audit

Your first audit. Straightforward pricing.

The Student Career Positioning Audit benchmarks your current competencies — from your studies, vacation work, holiday exposure, or part-time experience — against the real MMI competency framework for your chosen discipline. You get an honest picture of where you already have evidence and where your gaps are, plus a CV built from that assessment to support your first professional applications.

  • Career assessment against your discipline's real competency framework
  • One targeted CV included as standard
  • Honest gap disclosure — what to work on before your first role
  • Positioning strengths — what to lead with in early applications
